FORK-LIFT TRUCK OPERATION
CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY
WORKSAFE WESTERN AUSTRALIA QUALIFICATION

Certificate Class
LF (Fork-Lift Truck) Forklift in operation

Course Objective:
This course has been designed so participants understand the theory and practical components associated with forklift operating, with specific practical components being assessed due to the surroundings, and having specific equipment on hand for the participant to utilise.

Our courses are designed for those seeking a certificate in accordance with the National Occupational Health and Safety Certification Standards for Users and Operators of Industrial Equipment [NOHSC:(1006 2001)] and The Operation Of Load shifting Equipment And Other Types of Specified Equipment [NOHSC: 7019 (1992)] and AS2359-2 1985 Industrial Truck Code Operators.

We also aim to provide opportunities for increasing the skills of workers and the skills base of the industry. This course provides the training necessary for the attainment of a WorkSafe Certificate of Competency for a Forklift Operator.

Earthworks Training and Assessment Services has the benefit of being able to offer live work, due to the variety and quantity of equipment on hand for practical assessments.

This course will increase the number of certificated forklift operators in the industry and this will therefore:
- Improve workplace productivity;
- Improve the employment prospects of skilled workers;
- Reduce workers' turnover; and
- Increase the number of skilled workers remaining in the industry.

Course Prerequisite
- Participants must be 18 years of age or over
- Be free of any physical or medical impairment that could affect the safe operation of Forklift truck
- Be able to use the English language to a level that ensures the safe operation of Forklift truck
- Possess a current C Class drivers licence.
- Have numeracy skills to enable simple calculations to be performed relative to load capacities of Forklifts.

Course Agenda
- The capacity of the forklift truck;
- The condition of operating a forklift in their workplace;
- The features of forklifts;
- How to drive a forklift safely;
- Pre-checks;
- Maintenance checks; and
- Parking procedures.

Assessment
- Theory examination.
- Practical examination.

Duration:
Three (3) Day Course ($385per person)
Two (2) Day Course ($285per person)
One (1) Day Course ($185per person)

NOTE: All courses can be modified to suit group bookings seven days a week including evening classes.

Text - Forklift 1 Day Assessment

FORKLIFT ONE (1) DAY ASSESSMENT

Recommended for operators with extensive practical experience

PURPOSE

To enable forklift operators with existing skills to qualify as competent when assessed in accordance with National Guidelines.

ASSESSMENT
Participants able to demonstrate competency will qualify for a WorkSafe Certificate of Competency.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
As a result of the assessment, participants will be able to:

- Conduct operator maintenance and inspections
- Identify hazards and danger areas
- Operate their chosen forklift type efficiently and safely

COURSE CONTENT
- Safe operating practices
- Machine appreciation
- Operator maintenance and inspections
- Start up/shut down procedures
- Capacity and safe working loads
- Practical forklift operation

EQUIPMENT
- Counterbalanced forklift
- Reach Truck (upon request cost to be confirmed)
- Telescopic Handler (upon request cost to be confirmed)

PARTICIPANTS
- Age at least 18 years
- "C" Class licence
- Steel capped safety footwear and suitable clothing
- Hard hat safety vest and glasses
- Course manuals, notepads, etc are provided

Recommended for operators with recent practical experience
