NATIONAL CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY QUALIFICATION
Additional Information:
On the successful completion of this course, experienced* participants will have gained the knowledge and practical skills required to undertake a national Occupational Safety and Health skills assessment for the operator of a vehicle loading crane over 10metre/tonne capacity.
Who should attend:
Employees who are required to possess a national Certificate of Competency for the operation of a vehicle loading crane. Class CV.
Number of Participants:
4 minimum - 6 maximum
Pre Requisites:
Some prior experience and a dogging certificate of competency.
Qualification/Certificate:
National Certificate of Competency to operate Vehicle loading cranes Class CV in accordance with the national standard [NOHSC:1006(2001)]
Topics Covered:
In meeting these objectives, participants will be trained in:
- Pre Operational Checks
- Plan Work
- Set up Crane
- Operate Crane
- Shut down and dismantle Crane
Objectives of Course:
At the completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Successfully distinguish unserviceable equipment
- Demonstrate correct Crane hand and whistle signals
- Correctly determine safe working loads of chains, FSWR and fibre ropes in various applications
- Understand hand and whistle signals and apply appropriate lever action to operate crane to lift, move and place loads in a safe and efficient manner
- Demonstrate the safe and efficient operation of crane in conjunction with the correct use of a crane load chart
- Demonstrate knowledge of:-
1. Site Hazards
2. Lifting Gear
3. Slinging Loads for Movement
4. Crane Operations

Note Assessment:
Industry personnel will be assessed when sufficient evidence of dogging experience is produced. (Log Book, Employer, Letter). Non industry participants will be assessed when sufficient dogging experience is obtained and documented.
