DOGGING
NATIONAL CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY QUALIFICATION
Certificate Class DG (Dogging)



Additional Information:
On the successful completion of this course, industry experienced participants will have gained the knowledge and practical skills required to undertake a National Occupational Safety and Health Skills assessment for dogging work.


Who should attend:
Employees who are required to possess a National Certificate of Competency for
dogging.


Number of Participants:
4 minimum - 6 maximum


Pre Requisites:
An understanding of basic maths.


Qualification/Certificate:
National Certificate of Competency in accordance with the national standard [NOHSC:1006(2001)]


Topics Covered:
In meeting these objectives, participants will be trained in:

- Inspection of equipment
- Fibre ropes
- Slinging techniques
- Load movement
- Load placement

Objectives of Course:
Participant will be able to:
- Successfully distinguish unserviceable equipment

- Demonstrate correct Crane hand and whistle signals
- Demonstrate a range of correct clinging methods
- Correctly determine safe working loads of chains FSWR and fibre ropes in various applications
- Calculate volumes and weights of a range of objects
- Demonstrate an application of a range of knots, bends, hitches splicing and whippings
- Use appropriate hand and whistle signals to lift , move and place loads in a safe and efficient manner
- Work safely and efficiently with cranes and demonstrate the correct use of a crane load chart
- Demonstrate knowledge of:-
1. Site Hazards
2. Cranes
3. Lifting Gear
4. Slinging Loads for Movement

Venue:
Customers own site


Available Dates:
Courses are conducted generally on a monthly basis and as required.


Times/duration:
8.00am - 4.00pm
5 days / 40 hours


Note Assessment:
Industry personnel will be assessed when sufficient evidence of dogging experience is produced. (Log Book, Employer, Letter). Non industry participants will be assessed when sufficient dogging experience is obtained and documented.
