ELEVATING WORK PLATFORM - Boom Type OPERATION
NATIONAL CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCY QUALIFICATION (over 11 metres)
Additional Information:
This course is Competency based to give participants the necessary knowledge and skills to operate Elevated Work Platforms safely and undertake an Occupation Safety and Health skills assessment.
Who should attend:
Employees who are required to possess a National Certificate of Competency for Boom - Type Elevating Work Platforms over 11 metres in height.
Number of Participants:
4 minimum - 6 maximum
Pre Requisites:
Participants must be at least 18 years of age to undergo competency assessment.

Objectives of Course:
At the completion of this course the participant will be able to:
- Demonstrate and understanding of OS&H Regulations relating to Elevated Work Platforms
- Be able to read and interpret the operators manual for Elevated Work Platforms
- Be able to identify and state components and controls of an Elevated Work Platform
- Participants will perform daily pre-operational checks on an Elevated Work Platform and report, and record its condition.
- Be able to set and position an Elevated Work Platform for safe operation and competently assess site conditions and job requirements
- Be able to perform Hazard identification and risk assessment in relation to operating Elevated Work Platforms
- Will be able to demonstrate the competent operation of an Elevated Work Platform in a safe and efficient way
- Understand and be familiar with the different types of emergency descent devices
- Be able to demonstrate shut down procedures and perform post operation machine checks

In meeting these objectives, participants will be assessed on their competency in:
- Assess and secure equipment and work area
- Operate Elevated Work Platform
- Set up and dismantle Elevated Work Platforms
