Assessment System Overview

Quality assessment underpins the credibility of the vocational education and training sector. The Assessment Guidelines of a Training Package are an important tool in supporting quality assessment. Assessment must be carried out in accordance with:

  • Benchmarks for assessment
  • Specific industry requirements
  • Principles of assessment
  • Rules of evidence
  • Assessment requirements set out in the AQTF

Benchmarks for Assessment

The endorsed units of competency in a training package are the benchmarks for assessment. As such they provide the basis for nationally recognised Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).
