​Embedded in risk management, policy and legislation this course will assist you to build the necessary skills and knowledge required under the WHS Regulations Schedule 26.

​WHS​ Superintendent Course Nationally Recognised Units of Competency

The Superintendent training comprises of two units of competency:

  • BSBWHS411 Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and programs.
  • BSBWHS414 Contribute to WHS risk management.
  • BSBWHS513 Lead risk management.

The units delivered will meet the expected WorkSafe requirements for statutory positions under Schedule 26 of the WHS (Mines) Regulations (WA) 2022.

In addition to this course there is also the ability to complete the examination component for Statutory Supervisors. This is managed by the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS). Visit the WA government website for more information.

​The WHS Superintendent Course applies to those with supervisory responsibilities in a work area who have a broad knowledge of WHS policies and contribute well-developed skills in creating solutions to problems through analysis and evaluation of information from a variety of sources. They provide supervision and guidance to others and have limited responsibility for the output of others.

BSBWHS513 describes the skills and knowledge required to lead the management of work health and safety (WHS) risks in an organisation. The unit includes facilitating the identification of hazards and potential hazards, leading the assessment of associated risks, selecting and implementing suitable risk controls, and evaluating the overall effectiveness of the organisational WHS risk management process. It involves communicating with stakeholders throughout the process. The unit applies to those in an organisation who provide specialised knowledge and guidance to a range of personnel when leading the management of WHS risks.
